'The Home With Lavender Bushes' is a collection of poems that explores a wide range of topics such as love and heartbreak, the strength of friendship and family, the struggle of watching a parent battle cancer, the journey of adoption and identity, the exploration of sex, & the power of self-love. What started as a way to cope with a heartbreak and her mother later being diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, B. M. Duke uses poetry as a form of self-therapy with the hope of healing through writing.
