The following book is a compilation of award winning sculpture and installation pieces produced by artist Nancy Shahani. To best describe the genre of these works would be to use the term Conceptual Expressionism. Integrating the fine art of sculpture with architectural concepts of environment, physicality, and state create a re-defining and re-filtering of conceptual theories of space, structure, technology, weight and time. The following works portray expression through pins. The various materials chosen and the decided direction of these pins parallel that of human emotion and consequently, human condition. The pin passes through an explicit narrative and is transformed to be that which is much more specific than minimalism, it becomes that of distillation.
