1945: in his castle high up in the Alps a Swiss count meets with representatives of an organisation helping Nazi war criminals escape to South America. Many years later, in another century, a woman is gruesomely murdered at her lonely cottage on the edge of Dartmoor. The two events cannot possibly be connected ­- or can they?

Then there's Interpol carrying out an investigation into certain irregularities within the European Union; while a series of security leaks results in a wave of terrorist atrocities across the continent.
