The Sunflowers and other Poems: An Autobiography in Free Verse
Dean Farrier
Thirty nine poems in free verse. Poetry is arguably the most personal and direct of all the arts for expressing in words, rhyme and metre the deepest emotional thoughts from the most innermost regions of the human soul. From time immemorial poets have used verse as a means of communication to share their thoughts and sentiments with their fellows but, with the constraints of mere words and punctuation, this has never been an easy undertaking and has inevitably led to the multitude of different poetic forms as poets have sought to escape the shackles which limit them. Contemporary poetry is probably the most direct form of expression and consequently they can be almost autobiographical in nature. That being the case I have pleasure in presenting this short volume of poems. This volume draws from a wide variety of literary styles, both old and new, and it is hoped that the reader will enjoy the resulting blend.
