The 4th was one of the most celebrated Divisions of WW2, combining some of the most illustrious Regiments of the British and Indian Armies. It travelled 15,000 miles and suffered 25,000 casualties during its five years of service in Eritrea, Syria, the Western Desert, Tunisia, Italy and Greece. It particularly distinguished itself at Cassino.
