Peter Maxwell is looking after his nieces for the Whit half term and against his better judgement, he takes them to a theme park. While riding, white-knuckled, on the Wild Water, a passenger is killed in the float ahead and Maxwell and the girls become eyewitnesses to murder.

The dead man is an accountant, working for a charity which sponsors Leighford High School. Delving further, it soon becomes clear to Maxwell that this charity is not as squeaky-clean as it first appears. With his own family in danger, will Maxwell uncover the truth in time?
