Written in 1999 before the Towers fell, "Apocalypse" could have been classified as phantasmagoria, but today the novel seems rooted in reality. The story begins as war breaks out in Israel, and a ship arrives in Haifa to transport civilians from the war zone. Alina, our heroine, learns that the ship has been targeted by Muslim terrorists. She sacrifices her own well-being to ensure her children are safely removed from the scene, but this means that they will end up leaving Israel without her. Through perseverance and ingenuity, she struggles to escape Israel and search for her children in Europe. Her journey takes her from Kiev, to Romania, where she ends up involved in an adventure dealing with stolen diamonds from the Ceausescu collection, to Germany, where she lives in the home of one of the Arab terrorist commanders, and to Greece. This is a timely novel of a brave woman's journey through a world at war. Yet in spite of separation, danger, and intrigue, life goes on...
