Known as the girl with the henna tattoos, Shafiya is a knowledgeable contumacious Muslim girl who has always been overshadowed by her siblings.

Named after Imam Shafi, her personal Sheikh is her older brother Malik also known as Imam Malik. The two are really fond of one another until a Mufti election that didn't go as planned threatens that great relationship.

Shafiya rather go on time travel missions than to teach at her brother's newly established C. O. R. A. N school or to take part in a coup d'état in infancy.

Faced with a challenging dilemma, Shafiya, armed with her mystic abilities, seeks answers in the motherland.
