The Inn-by-the-Sea came about as an offspring from promotions that were taking place all along the transcontinental route that was called the Old Spanish Trail. From St. Augustine, Fl to San Diego, Cal., developers and business promoters were eager to make their mark along the coming highway and droves of tourists in brand spanking new automobiles. In Pass Christian, many of the successfully thriving hotels had met their demise in flames and ashes. One of these was the Lynnne Castle Hotel inferno.
