Manco and Amaru are frantic when the see a caravel ship with three masts sailing rapidly toward their balsa raft in the ocean off the coast of Peru. The Spaniards climb onto the balsa raft to kidnap Amaru, and Manco has lost his best friend. The ship leaves but Manco must remain to deal with trouble in his village. Months later when the ship returns, they become captives of Pizarro and his soldiers and a dangerous future begins. The two friends must guide the Spaniards across the treacherous Andes Mountains to meet the Inca King, Atahualpa. There, a tragedy ensues.
