Forgiveness Revealed David W Smith
Forgiveness Revealed
David W Smith
Before my arrest I had forgotten what forgiveness was, that it existed. I could talk about it academically, even theologically. But what did it feel like to be forgiven? Was forgiveness even real? I didn't feel forgiven. When I was in solitary for 16 months, in that most profane of all places, God revealed His holy forgiveness to me. God reminded me of His pronouncement that I've been washed clean by the blood of the lamb. God reminded me that He sent His Holy Spirit to be my comfort and help. God revealed His infinite love for me and for you through scripture. Words that I had read, taught and preached countless times before now had an infinitely greater meaning. Not only did I know sin's shackles I knew man's shackles. Not only had I experienced my separation from God because of sin I experienced my separation from all my loved ones because of sin. More importantly, not only had I received God's forgiveness for those "small" sins I know received, felt, accepted, rejoiced and reveled in God's forgiveness of all my sins. I pray these devotions reveal God's forgiveness to you and help you every day to experience God's forgiveness in new and wonderful ways.
