The first novella, Android, set in 2039, is about a billionaire retired gay businessman, Quinn Davidson, ordering from MANNEQUIN a customized humanoid robot as a lover, who he names Harley and passes off as his nephew, son of his recently deceased twin brother. They return together to Davidson's Palm Springs desert mansion and everything is perfect until an ex-boyfriend reappears and bliss turns sour and worse. The second novella, Runes, is set in 9th Century Denmark and concerns three teenage bunk-brothers (same-sex lovers), Egil Skald, Honj Gokstad and Jarls Thorsson, and their preparation for initiation as Viking warriors at their town of Firrid. But the trio commit an act at the annual Rites of Spring which seals their fates.
