THE HORSE IN THE FIELD is a memoir of an Argentine childhood in the 1950s. Life was good for a young child living in Buenos Aires during the 40's and 50's. The family left France after WWII for a better life away from the remains of the war. Argentina prospered under the Juan and Evita Perón administration. But, it would take only a few years for the country to fall into a deep economic abyss. But for the young boy in this memoir, it was an idyllic time and place. Recalling his childhood, the author creates a mosaic of recollections as they flash through his mind, and haunt him like good-natured ghosts.
