Volume four of Gischichte der Insel Zypern (History of the Island of Cyprus) describes the development of the end of the civil war in 1965, to the so-called High Level Agreement of 1977. The first part describes the history of Cyprus in parallel to the development in Greece, encompassing Ilouliana through the coup of April 21, 1967. The second part describes the negotiations between the Greek and Turkish governments at the river Maritsa and the Kofinou crisis of November 1967. On one hand they led to inter-communal negotiations that lasted until 1974, but on the other hand they also created an atmosphere of tension on Cyprus that led to violent acts by the Ethniko Metopo, and, upon return of Grievas to the island, led to civil war-like conditions stoked by the actions of EOKA B.
