Model Predictive Control for Hybrid Systems: Piecewise Affine and Max-plus-linear Systems Ion Necoara

This book considers the development of new analysisand control techniques for special classes of hybridsystems: piecewise affine systems andmax-plus-linear systems. Among different existing control methods we chose the optimal controlframework and its receding horizon implementation referred to as model predictive control. We derivedan efficient solution to a class of finite-horizonrobust optimal control problems for constrained max-plus-linear systems based on convexity of theunderlying optimization problem. Using the optimalcontrol framework, novel model predictive control schemes are designed for piecewise affine andmax-plus-linear systems that make use of theirspecial structure and that incorporate conditions toguarantee a priori closed-loop asymptotic stability.
