Since the inception of Industrialization concerns have been raised by scientists about the influence all industries have on the environment. With the recognition of global warming as a real threat to our earth, many scientists have begun to seek for ways to overcome the effect we are having on our environment. The issue of environmental pollution by petroleum companies has raised concern in all countries using fossil fuels. However it should be noted that they are not the worst polluters in the world. The analyses conducted in this book is only an illustration of natural non-deliberate contamination of the environment. This industry is one of the few that makes a concerted effort to make the environment safe by making large contributions to education and training. It is envisaged that this study should encourage other similar industries to examine their own practices to make our resources safe, reusable and recyclable for future generations.
