The book is on pigeon feathers and human hair in areas of various densities of automobiles, particularly in the urban while sub-urban and rural areas were expected to be free from the metal contaminants. The study work is to analyze the samples of hair and feathers of inhabitants, resident birds for presence of heavy metal contamination and determine the respective concentrations in these Keratinous tissues of two organisms of two different groups. It is also suggest if one (feather) can precisely indicate the possible level of contamination in the organism. Present work was taken up to develop a non invasive bio-indicator of air pollution. The advantage of this method is that the organisms are neither killed nor disturbed while collection of samples and exposure in both tissues can be monitored periodically.
