Marriage is held in high esteem by Christians; however, Christian rates of divorce are not different than the national average. The rate of divorce among Christians should be reduced and the traditional spiritual benefits of marriage should regain importance. Marriage can be practiced as a spiritual discipline that will benefit the relationship as well as yielding sought after spirituality. In order to understand the problem, a survey on marriage attitudes and needs was given to random adults. The results exposed areas of marital agreement and discord. Principles of practicing marriage as a spiritual discipline are shown through the survey, case studies, and analysis of existing literature. Marriage as a spiritual discipline compliments the findings and advice of leading marriage researchers. While the study is directed towards a Christian audience, anyone can benefit from the ideas presented. The author's desire is to be a blessing to marriage, and this work is dedicated to that goal.
