References to several studies are mentioned describing the effect LSD has on humans while under the influence of the drug, the effects LSD has on neurotransmitters in the brain, and the possible therapeutic benefits that can arise from proper treatment with the drug. The benefits and consequences that can occur from short and long term use are explained as well as possible side effects that can occur from using the drug. The connection between LSD and hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD) is explained and several myths focusing on the dangers and side effects of LSD are also debunked. It has been discovered that there are many positive benefits between LSD therapy and several diseases such as alcoholism, cluster headaches, and terminally ill patients.
