Challenges That Affect the Academic Success of First Year Students: a Case of Adama University

Currently Ethiopian higher education is expanding at alarming rate. The universities are providing good opportunities and facilities for the young generation of this millennium. Even though there is promising expansion, there are challenges that are affecting the academic performance of students that came from different regions of Ethiopia. This paper is, therefore, focuses on the psychological, social and economical problems that are affecting the academic performance of higher educational institutions. Special focus is made on first year Adama University students.
