The import trade is constrained by many factors which this book has investigated. This book is about the assessment of the challenges and opportunities of import trade practice focusing on the major challenges of import trade and the opportunities of import trade. It also investigated the working practice of import trade. It unravels the major constraining factors, import prohibitions, effect of factors like inflation and lack of own port. The study revealed that there is a serious problem in import trade. Some of the major problems mentioned: Problems in relation to hard currency issuance, L/C processing time, distance from the port and transportation problem, problems of service at the port, high tariff and duties, etc are some among the many problems cited by respondents. The author strongly argues that problems in import trade should be remedied for smoothing undertaking of import business, as any country cannot sustain its development without importation.
