Experiential education is a type of hands on learning. This book focuses on the question: what are instructional strategies in experiential education and how do they affect students? self-concept and motivation in secondary urban learners? The study compared data between a non-experiential unit and experiential unit taught to a group of ninth grade urban high school students. Both a student survey and teacher notes were used in order to evaluate the difference in student motivation, achievement and self-concept in the students following the completion of each unit. A service learning project, which is part of experiential education, was used as the culminating experience in the experiential unit. This study should be useful to professionals in teaching for all age levels.
