Perceptions of Financiers Toward Financing Ppp Project in Malaysia: an Exploratory Study

This study explores the perceptions of financial institutions on several aspects of Public Private Partnership (PPP) implementation in Malaysia which include the commitment towards PPP, the understanding of PPP concept, the importance of various risks involved in PPP and the factors that determine the financial institutions? decision to finance PPP projects in Malaysia. To achieve the objectives, a questionnaire survey method was used. The questionnaire was distributed to all financial institutions in Malaysia. Out of the 47 distributed questionnaires (i.e 47 financial institutions) only 13 financial institutions responded. In analyzing the findings, this study used mainly descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentages and mean. In conclusion, the findings of this exploratory study offered some evidence on the implementation of PPP in Malaysia particularly from the perspective of the finance provider.
