The study indicates that land right has been one of the most important institutional arrangements which permeated deeply the whole economic, social and cultural life of Dabat. Land tenure system was a system of the rights and obligations of an individual and a group of individuals in relation to the land. The owner of the land was subjected for any obligation and right attached to his land. Access to land was an important issue for the majority of the Ethiopian population who have been relied on agriculture since time immemorial. However, the right to access to land was not guaranteed to all in the time under study.
