Eradicating Food Insecurity in the Karamoja Region, Uganda: the Challenges Faced
Frederick Mbyemeire
This monograph examines the challenges the Government of Uganda is facing in its bid to eradicate food insecurity in the semi-arid region of Karamoja. It focuses on causes of food insecurity in the region and policy interventions that are geared towards addressing them. It points out high poverty levels, that require a lot of resources to address, armed violence, insecurity in in the neighbouring countries that sustain supply of fire arms to the region and government policies that do not adequately address the region's unique conditions as a pastoral and semi-arid region as challenges that need to be addressed.
