The book explains the shortfalls that have lead to negative growth of the Zambian Emerald Industry over a period of time. The Zambian emerald industry has a resource potential to grow to a big profitable mining and processing(cutting and polishing)industry that can be the major contributor to the Zambian struggling Economy. From the inception of emerald mining in Zambia, the emerald mining has been more of a curse than a blessing. The many researchers, including me think that the untapped pontential of the emeralds,is probably more than the current potential of the current booming copper industry. A good re-look at this less capital intensive industry compared to the copper industry would have a major benefit to the genuine investors and to the Zambian economy in terms of employment and tax benefits.
