The seriousness and societal costs of dental caries are enormous. The current oral health care trend is improvising on evidence-based recommendations and treatment. The current use of fluoride varnish in the prevention of dental caries is based on community, professional, and individual strategies. These regimens should include a risk analysis and a review of the patient's current fluoride exposure. A search of the literature on fluoride varnish was carried out in electronic databases, reference lists of articles, and selected textbooks. This book highlights the caries-preventive effect of professional fluoride varnish treatments.
