Aromatic Rice, Nitrogen Fertilizer and Lodging
Jesmin Aktar
The indigenous aromatic rice cultivars Shakkorkhora, Chinigura, Kalijira and Kataribhog, grown broadly in Bangladesh, showed their ability to produce higher amount of dry matter at anthesis, increased number of panicle per hill , longer panicle and increased number of spikelets per panicle upto 120 kg N/ha under both lodging and non-lodging conditions. But under lodging condition, these positive response was not reflected in yield because of lodging, whereas it was reflected under lodging prevented stacking condition and this can be an additive for the development of high yielding aromatic rice varieties.
