Testing Writing Skills: Analyzing the Practices of Testing English Language Basic Writing Skills Melkamu Alemu

The purpose of this study was to analyze the practices of testing writing skills at Haramaya University. Hence, to achieve the objectives, four data gathering tools were employed. The data collected from different sources were analyzed appropriately. The major findings of the study were also discussed with the recommendations to be implemented. Thus, the book could help English language teachers and testing professionals to get awareness about the rigorousness of the procedures they have to use to develop and administer writing skills tests. This would in turn help them to adjust their test development and administration strategies to measure students? writing skills properly. Furthermore, the book could give insight about the general practices of testing writing skills and its impacts on students? writing efficiency. It could also show the effect of the current testing practices on test qualities
