The book entitled ?Modern synthetic strategy for anti-viral nucleosides? deals with the synthesis of four new series of nucleosides, their characterization and antiviral screening. Chemically, viruses are nucleoproteins containing either deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) or ribonucleic acid (RNA) surrounded by a protective protein sheath. Nucleoside analogues are used as anti-viral therapeutic agents. The development of antiviral drugs encountered lots of difficulties and the research in antiviral chemotherapy gained less attention. Although vaccination is a valuable tool to fight viral diseases and in some cases is available and successful, the difficulty associated with state-wide or world-wide vaccination programs makes antiviral chemotherapy a more practical approach in the fight to epidemic viral infections. The importance of these nucleoside analogues was later confirmed with the emergence of HIV as the main etiological agent of AIDS. Due to growing awareness about environmental pollution, library synthesis of target nucleosides by using green protocols is desired. With this objective new nucleosides have been synthesized using green protocol and screened for their antiviralactivity.
