When Carl Gustav Gruber discovers that he has cancer and will die soon, he decides to film what will be his last movie. The German director, settled in Mexico, chooses nine amateur actors with the objective of exploiting their psychological characteristics.



In this microcosm that has the Last Judgment as the central theme of the film, and of Volpi's book, the protagonists will find out what extremes they are capable of reaching.



The Melancholic Temperament is an unstoppable novel in which Jorge Volpi illustrates the terrible consequences of fusing art and life, as well as the inevitable melancholy that this dangerous act entails.
