Ostracods are by a wide margin the most perplexing living beings considered inside the field of micropalaeontology. They are Metazoa and have a place with the Phylum Arthropoda (as trilobites), Class Crustacea (as lobsters and crabs). A significant distinctive component Ostracods share with different arthropods is the two-sided symmetry of their body structure. The combined body parts are encased in a dorsally pivoted carapace made out of low magnesium calcite, which is what is ordinarily protected in the fossil record. They are discovered today in practically all sea-going conditions including underground aquifers, caverns, inside the water table, semi-earthbound situations, in both crisp and marine waters, inside the water section just as on (and in) the substrate. Indeed anyplace that is wet, regardless of whether just for a concise period.
