Addictive Behaviour of Adolescents in School

The use of psychoactive substances by adolescents is a practice that occurs in the school setting. The objective of our study was to determine the prevalence of alcohol, tobacco and drug use, to identify the risk factors associated with this practice and to propose control measures. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study from September to December 2015 in Sarh conducted in schools. The prevalence of tobacco, alcohol and drug consumption was 9.4%, 47.8% and 1.1% respectively. Tobacco, alcohol and drug dependence was 16.1%, 18.6% and 20% respectively. The use of these substances was more common among boys than girls. Initiation to these substances takes place at a very early age and generally before the age of 15. Addiction among adolescents in schools is a reality and requires efforts by all actors to combat this compromising practice for young people.
