Effect of alpha-adrenergic blockers on glycemia
José Guillermo Cabanillas López
Is it possible to lower glycemia levels, even in the presence of adrenaline? The blockade of alpha-adrenergic receptors reveals a little explored field of research that promises to open up new therapeutic horizons useful in confronting the difficult and feared clinical situations of hyperglycemia. An experimental study, carried out in vivo, shows the effect of alpha-adrenergic blockade on glycemia levels in basal situations, in situations of stress, and even in a state of decrease in the number of pancreatic cells, in addition to comparing it in time and power, with the effect of insulin.
