Advaita Meditation II

The human soul is Spirit, not created out of nothing, and not different from the essence of God; at the level of substratum of existence both the human soul and God are identical. (2.1.11) Due to daydreaming with the physical body we imagine the world inhabited by separate objects and persons. Thus we mentally create the feeling of isolation between one and the other. This is not all, we also project ourselves through time, from the past into the future. We are always a project under construction, so we suffer from constant dissatisfaction. We look to the outside world for something that will put an end to all suffering and pain, but we only get transitory answers, nothing permanent. Until we look within ourselves and discover the non-dual nature of our own Being in the timeless present. Then we know the eternal and Unique "I", the one who is the same "I" of all, where all souls gather in one Spirit and discover within the Absolute. And the search ceases, we no longer have to pursue happiness within an unattainable future; we live within the continuous present and recognize ourselves as Pure Consciousness, completely self-luminous.
