This document is a research work intended for pupils, students and researchers who wish to discover Descartes' philosophy through his famous Discourse of the Method. Indeed, the "I think therefore I am" is the first truth discovered by Descartes as a result of doubt. According to him, doubt appears as a means, the surest tool to reach the truth. Absolute doubt helps to discover this truth. Descartes finally discovers something that is unmistakable, something that he cannot question and of which he is truly sure and certain. Descartes' first truth remains the famous "I think therefore I am". Thus, it is from this truth that he will be able to build other knowledge, other truths and thus to found and build his philosophy.
