Darren Matthews, African-American Ranger, knows that Eastern Texas has its own take on law and order. He was the first one in his family to leave the Lone Star state until duty called him back home. When his allegiance to his roots puts his job at risk, he travels to the small town of Lark where the murder of a black man from Chicago and a local white woman has caused a lot of ill-will. Matthews must solve the case quickly before old racial conflicts resurface and explode.
