Increasingly, the public is becoming aware of the scale of the problem of violence at work and the different forms it takes--aggression, assault, sexual harassment, physical abuse, and homicide. The challenge of a violence-free working environment encompasses not only human rights but also labor, health and safety, and criminal justice issues. This book looks at existing legislation, guidelines, and practices and calls for a systematic approach to a problem that is now being taken up by more international agencies and that inflicts a heavy toll on so many workplaces. Duncan Chappell is deputy president of the National Federal Administrative Appeals Tribunal and former director of the Australian Institute of Criminology.
