Jack Carter was "the comedian's comedian; a machine gun of comedy.
Launching his career on radio's "Major Bowes Amateur Hour," he later became the first host of Dumont's Saturday night television variety series, "Cavalcade of Stars" in 1949-50, the went to NBC to star in "The Jack Carter Show".
Over the years, he appeared on Broadway (e.g. Mr. Wonderful with Sammy Davis Jr.), in nightclubs around the country, and made multiple appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show," plus variety programs hosted by Martin & Lewis, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Andy Williams, Dinah Shore, Jimmy Durante and others.
Michael B. Druxman's one-person stage play, Jack Carter: Comedian, joins the entertainer in 2011, two years after he was crippled in an auto accident. He talks about his life, his career, and his many frustrations and regrets.
