Environmental problems such as water shortages, desertification, global warming, ozone depletion, deforestation, trans-boundary air pollution, toxic waste, considerable loss of biodiversity, and so forth, are part of a global, political, economic and strategic landscape. They are created by human choices and must be viewed in a holistic manner. By implication, therefore, environmental catastrophe would be avoided only by fundamental and radical changes in the values, attitudes, policies and institutions of industrial societies in particular. There are many international environmental regulations in place and yet the problems of environmental degradation are very much with us. The politics of these regulations has been a part of the difficulties. This book critically discusses both the environmental issues and emerging politics emerging there from.
