Harry Blemmings, a middle age maker of false teeth, finds new meaning in his lonely life during the London Blitz of 1943. Highly regarded by his patients, he is no longer reminded of his former reputation as a draft dodger of the Great War. While visiting his wife at his mother-in-law's home, he meets Colonel Wimple and his alluring wife whom he charms with his ventriloquist skills. This chance meeting turns Harry's world upside down. He is introduced to some "very important people" led by the dark, shadowy figure, Mordred Fetlock, who would make his dreams come true as "Harry and Jack" become a successful act...but, at what price?
