Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War as a book on military practice, since he was a general and war was his life and his daily work. But, beyond military practice, he thought of it as a treatise that taught the supreme strategy of wisely applying knowledge of human nature in moments of confrontation. Of course, companies do not face directly on a battlefield like the one that Sun Tzu walked, but the competitive dynamics of business means that, in countless situations, organizations are embroiled in a duel to the death of which only they can the victor come out alive.
