A Christmas Tree (Illustrated)
Charles Dickens
Written by a reader, Connie G.: "In 'A Christmas Tree' an older narrator takes a nostalgic look back at Christmas trees, decorations, and toys from his childhood. He appreciates the beauty and wonder of Christmas. He mentions going away to boarding school, and enjoying a return home during a Christmas break. Then, there is a change in tone as the narrator reminisces about his adult years, and visiting friends in the countryside. They tell ghost stories around the fire on Christmas Eve. The aging narrator ends the work by returning to the present time, enjoying the magic of a Christmas tree.
