The Beatles win the Mersey Beat poll, under an interesting voting system. They go on radio, television and find a music publisher, via Brian. The band returns play in Hamburg, at the Star-Club. Girlfriends, Cynthia and Dot experience changing situations. John and Cynthia marry - few know. Astrid is distraught. Stuart is lost, Pete is lost, and Ringo joins. The chain was now complete. John had found Paul. Paul had introduced George. George had befriended Ringo and John and Paul encouraged him into joining the band. Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, along with Gerry and the Pacemakers, keep the Merseyside Sound in local news of the Liverpool scene. So do Billy J Kramer, Cilla Black, the Searchers, the Flamingos and a host of other bands. The band links with Parlophone (at EMI), where George Martin is producer. The Beatles record 'Love Me Do' at EMI's Abbey Road. They turned down 'How Do You Do It?' which Gerry and the Pacemakers make into a Number One hit. John and Paul write a song, temporarily titled 'Seventeen', written after a 17-year-old, but which one? Ringo meets Maureen. Along with ten other acts, the Beatles appear on the same bill as Little Richard at Tower Ballroom, Liverpool. The Beatles head off for a short, final visit to Hamburg, their last performance on New Year's Eve, 1962.
