Kids enjoy Peter's adventures as he is chased about the garden of Mr. McGregor, escapes and returns home to his mother. They also love his siblings Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail, who always does the right thing. Despite the fun of today's interpretations of all those characters, much of Peter Rabbit's enduring appeal is due to the subtle, but valuable lessons of the story itself.
