As a little girl, Mary loved to color in her coloring books. She remembers going into a Woolworth dime store in Chicago and spotting an assorted box of 48 Crayola crayons. The box cost 50 cents. She timidly asked her mother to buy this special box, but mom said, "Costs too much." Instead she was given a box of 8 crayons for 10 cents. In retrospect, Mary likes to think that her life symbolizes a BIG box of Crayola crayons. Each crayon represents a person or event that has added amazing color to her life. Some colors blend into each other just like her on-going experiences harmonize with reality. She learned that color is the quality of reflective light. The author feels that God has blessed her life with many unique experiences. Mary wishes to share these colorful memories in her book, The Color of Friendship.
