The Turtle and the Straw
Nicola Stone
A very old turtle, who has lived in the ocean for 100 years, accidentally eats a plastic straw, mistaking it for a sea-worm. He washes up on the shore, where he meets a little girl, who sells drinks to people on the beach. She helps to remove the straw from his throat but when doing so, she realises that she could have stopped it being there in the first place. A thought provoking fairytale based on Global Goal 14: Life Under Water, exploring the topical issues of plastic in our oceans and human threat to the environment.
