Give hope to children in troubling times. In these times of the coronavirus aka covid19 taking over everything, causing illness, death, and more, and mass shutdowns occurring throughout the known world, kids are as troubled as anyone else with the new world order. There is no school, no friends, no family, no trips to the store - every part of their lives except for the home has shut down.

Using this book you can lightly joke about having to stay at home - while maintaining the necessity - all the while still transmitting the important message that this is just temporary. Through this light and irreverent tale, different kids ask to visit different family members, only to be reminded - we can't do that right now, but we will be able to again soon!

Even just acknowledging the difficulty of the situation with your child will make it easier. Allowing children to express themselves, and letting them know it is okay to do so, can help with difficult times as well.

Hopefully this helps YOUR child as well, learn to take the situation seriously while also being able to move past it. Give your kids the gift of HOPE. Give your kids the gift of knowing this situation is only temporary - even when we don't know how long it will last. (04/21/2020)

About the storyline: Ari Gunzburg's 3 year old daughter has silly and sweet ways of discussing the coronavirus - even just the way she pronounces the word is adorable. Here are a few:

"Sweetie, we are going to the store!"
"Like, for real going, mommy?"
"Oh no, sweetie, we are staying in the car. Because of the coronavirus."

"Mommy, can I see my friends again soon?"
"No sweetie."
"Oh, because of the coronavirus?"
"Yes dear."

"Bubbie! Can I have an air hug?"
[she squeezes her arms together, and so does Bubbie]

"Mommy watch out! I'll give you the coronavirus!"
[said while licking a finger and holding it out at her, because she didn't want to do something]
[and no, she hasn't had it as far as we know]

From the author Nana and Grampy are lightly modeled after my own grandparents, my Nana, may she live and be well, and my Grampy, may he rest in peace. Grampy was a character, originally from Boston (Bah-stin), with a whole lot of "attitude" to lightly mask his abundant love for his large family. Grampy gave everyone a bit of a hard time, but this was the way he showed his love and affection.
