Allan Quatermain

Allan Quatermain is a British Victorian hunter, originally from Oxfordshire in the south-east of England . Benjamin of siblings, he showed courage from his early years by saving Stella Carson from a fire, who would later become his second wife. During Allan's childhood, his mother and three brothers died victims of the criminal poisoning of the family well. Allan and his father escaped, but the latter, then vicar, could no longer bear to live in England following this painful loss. Deciding to emigrate with his son to South Africa, Allan's father went up the country and became a missionary there among the Cafres, not far from the current site of the city of Cradock .
