Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass
The narrative of Frederick Douglas's life is a memoir and monograph of the abolition of 1845, written by the famous orator and former slave Frederick Douglas in Lynn, Massachusetts. It is generally considered to be the most famous of many narratives written by former slaves during the same period. In fact, this text describes the events of his life and is considered to be one of the most influential literary works that contributed to the abolition of slavery in the United States in the early 19th century. Frederick Douglass's life narrative contains 11 chapters, telling about Douglass's life as a slave and his ambition to become a free man. It contains two introductions by famous white abolitionists: William Lloyd Garrison's preface and Wendell Phillips' letter, both of which demonstrate the authenticity of the accounts and the quality of the author.
